Commonwealth Learning Center Delivers Personalized Tutoring Services in Topsfield, Massachusetts

Commonwealth Learning Center (CLC) provides various benefits that make it stand out from other tutoring centers. Other tutoring facilities often use group settings to coach their clients, but we give them individualized attention by working with them one-on-one. At the CLC our team believes that each client is unique with their own need and learning goals. We support students of all ages (K-1 through adult) in a compassionate, relaxing setting.

We’re the perfect solution for students who need a little extra help overcoming obstacles to those with learning disabilities. Students with a variety of learning challenges such as ADHD, dyslexia, executive function difficulties, language-based learning disabilities, and non-verbal learning disabilities come to us for help. Our instructors have advanced degrees in special education, reading, and math and are certified to teach students with learning challenges.

Here are the four main services we specialize in:

We Provide Educational Evaluations

Our specialists believe in early intervention to help catch any learning difficulties and direct a student on the pathway to academic and life success. These evaluations can help transform a student’s life by allowing them to grasp concepts that had previously alluded them.

We offer a free of charge consultation with the CLC director for all new students that includes a review of past exams and results. Once we learn a student’s strengths and weaknesses, we can provide a personalized teaching plan made specifically for them.

Post-evaluation, we review a testing report with each student and their parent that identifies areas that need assistance and which of our programs we feel will be most beneficial.

Our Tutors Help Topsfield Students With Reading

Learning how to read is often one of the toughest things for a young student to grasp. We help create stronger readers in the Topsfield, MA area using a variety of accredited programs demonstrated to boost reading skills. All of these can treat dyslexia and other conditions that make reading challenging. Some of our reading programs include:

  • The Orton-Gillingham Program

This program aids students who may pause when they are making an effort to read a sentence and find it difficult to match sounds with associated letters. It is a phonetically based program that instructs students the basic foundations of the English language and then builds from there.

  • The Wilson Reading System Program

This reading and writing program takes students who struggle with spelling through a 12-step process so they can eventually read standalone words. The steps of this program are a bit more involved than Orton-Gillingham and emphasize repetitiveness to help students remember what they’ve just earned. Students read and review what they have been previously taught before advancing to the next step which is part of what makes this a very successful program.

  • The LiPS Program

Known as LiPS, this phonetically based program helps students learn how to speak words properly before they actually write them. It shows students how proper use of the lips, tongue, and mouth create the basics of letters and words.

  • Nancibell® Visualizing & Verbalizing®

This program helps students cultivate mental imagery as they read and hear words. This approach to learning enables them to succeed academically across many courses of study before reading and writing.

  • We Offer Math Tutoring Near Topsfield

We help students be their best at math by using various teaching strategies in all mathematics levels from basic adding and subtracting to advanced pre-college math. Our unique math programs help students of all skill levels “see” solutions to solve problems. We also help students create a solutions book of math formulas that reinforces concepts they have learned.

Our TouchMath program is a fantastic multisensory tool that reinforces mathematical principles by having children “touch” numbers to learn how to add, subtract, and multiply.

We Help Topsfield Students With All Types of Test Preparation

When Topsfield MA students face an exam for college or high school admittance, we help take the anxiety out of getting ready for it. We help students on an individual basis get ready for the MCAS, SAT, PSAT, SSAT exams and more. We help adult students obtain more job opportunities by helping them prepare for the GED exam.
