Commonwealth Learning Center Delivers Customized Tutoring Services in Danvers, Massachusetts

Commonwealth Learning Center (CLC) is a different kind of tutoring center. In contrast to other facilities that tutor learners in group settings, our educators work with our clients individually to give them the personalized attention they need. We believe that every client comes to the CLC with their own personal challenges and learning goals. From elementary school through adulthood, our students are given the assistance they need in a patient, caring environment.

We’re the perfect solution for students who need a little extra help getting over hurdles to those with learning differences. Our programs and teaching methods are designed to address clients with learning disabilities that include ADHD, dyslexia, executive function difficulties, language-based learning disabilities, and non-verbal learning disabilities. Our instructors have advanced degrees in special education, reading, and math and are certified to teach learners with learning challenges.

Our 4 main areas of focus are as follows:

Your First Step at the CLC: Educational Evaluations

Our team believes that early intervention is crucial to help a child succeed in school as well as the rest of their life which is why CLC offers educational assessments that can help uncover a learning challenge or effective learning style. We can change a student’s life and help them grasp concepts that were beyond their understanding once an evaluation is done.

All new clients are given a free consultation with the CLC director. It includes examining their academic history and performance. Once we find out a student’s strengths and weaknesses, we can offer a personalized education plan just for them.

Post-evaluation, we review a testing report with each student and their parent that clarifies areas that need assistance and which of our programs we recommend.

Our Danvers Reading Tutoring Program

Literacy may be one of the trickiest things a young student can master. We help create stronger readers in the Danvers, MA area using several accredited programs that are proven to enhance reading skills. All of them can treat conditions that inhibit reading, such as dyslexia. Some of our reading programs include:

  • Orton-Gillingham

This program aids students who may pause when they are making an effort to read through a sentence and find it difficult to match sounds with associated letters. This phonetically based program helps students understand the basic ingredients of English before gently advancing them.

  • About The Wilson Reading System

This 12-step program is perfect for students who have a challenging time with spelling and reading individual words when they’re not being used in a sentence. The steps is a little more advanced than those from Orton-Gillingham and help students remember principles through repeating concepts. The program makes sure students fully understand the current level before moving on to the following one, which leads to reading and writing success.

  • The LiPS Program

Referred to as LiPS, this phonetically based program enables students to learn how to speak words properly before actually writing them. It demonstrates to students how proper use of the lips, tongue, and mouth create the basics of letters and words.

  • Nancibell® Visualizing & Verbalizing® Program

This program helps students develop mental imagery as they hear and read words. This strengthens their scholastic capacity across all courses of study, not just reading and writing.

  • Math Tutoring in Danvers, Massachusetts

From basic math through advanced principles such as calculus, we help students be their best at the subject with a variety of teaching approaches. We offer a variety of math programs to help students at all levels comprehend math by seeing the formulas. In addition, we help students create a solutions manual of math formulas that reinforces concepts they’ve learned.

For younger learners, our TouchMath program uses a multisensory method that teaches kids to count and touch TouchPoints to add, subtract, and multiply numerals.
