Educational Assessments

We believe early intervention is key to overcoming learning challenges and setting a foundation for lifelong success. Our assessments empower students to grasp concepts that may have previously seemed out of reach.

For new clients, we offer a complimentary consultation with a CLC director. This session includes a thorough review of past evaluations and academic history, enabling us to pinpoint each student’s strengths and weaknesses. From there, we create a personalized tutoring plan designed to meet their specific needs.

After the evaluation, students and their families receive a detailed report outlining areas for growth and our tailored recommendations to address them.

  • The LiPS Program

Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing™ Program (LiPS) helps students master correct pronunciation through a multisensory approach, focusing on how lips, tongue, and mouth movements form letters and words.

  • Nancibell® Visualizing & Verbalizing® Program

ADD vs. ADHD: What’s the Difference?

ADD (attention deficit disorder) and ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) are often used interchangeably, but there are important distinctions. ADD was once used to describe inattentiveness and difficulty focusing without hyperactivity. Today, ADHD encompasses both inattentive and hyperactive behaviors as a single diagnosis.

Diagnosing ADD and ADHD in Amherst Students

Diagnosing ADHD involves a comprehensive evaluation of symptoms based on guidelines from trusted organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics. Students undergo vision and hearing tests and a physical examination to rule out other potential causes.

Once diagnosed, sharing this information with teachers can help implement strategies to improve focus and support learning in the classroom.
