The Power of Self-Advocacy
Featuring the YES! Program Youth Ambassadors
Learning Ally’s YES! Program (Youth Examples of Self-Advocacy) pairs younger students with learning differences with older students who are trained to help them recognize their strengths and weaknesses, build confidence, and provide them with the tools to become strong self-advocates. In these family-friendly workshops the YES! Ambassadors will share their personal stories and provide helpful solutions to the challenges children face every day in their classrooms. Adults attendees will discover ways to support their students as they learn to effectively self-advocate.
Topics covered will include:
- What is Self-Advocacy?
- Dyslexia Fact vs. Fiction
- How to Build a Support Team
- Accommodations and Assistive Technology 101
