When learners exhibit signs of willfulness or procrastination around completing schoolwork, or when homework struggles arise, what is at the core of the challenge? Oftentimes, students identify as lazy or distracted rather than determining what barriers are at play and getting in the way.
This presentation aims to tackle some of these common struggles and will discuss how executive functions can impact learning across development. Additionally, we will discuss how adults can scaffold technology use for it to serve as a tool, rather than a distraction.
We will explore strategies for caregivers to better understand and support the role of executive functions in the completion of homework and other everyday tasks to increase student’s working efficiency and confidence.
