Demystifying Neuropsychological Assessments
Featuring Elizabeth Lops, Ph.D.
Pediatric Neuropsychologist, NESCA
Understanding a child’s learning profile helps to gauge learning strengths and weaknesses, including how that student learns best and what is needed to adequately support his/her learning style. Comprehensive neuropsychological assessments can provide valuable insight into a child’s learning and emotional profile, including what may be hindering academic progress. In this workshop, child psychologist Elizabeth Lops, Ph.D., will provide information regarding the components of a neuropsychological assessment and when it may be helpful to seek an independent evaluation, as well as concrete suggestions for what to look for when ascertaining a neuropsychological assessment.
Topics covered will include:
- Components of a neuropsychological assessment
- What to ask for when requesting a neuropsychological evaluation
- Differences between school-based testing and testing by independent evaluators
- Factors influencing children’s learning progress
