ABOUT COMMONWEALTH LEARNING CENTER

WHO WE ARE

The Commonwealth Learning Center is a non-profit educational center established in 1988 by the Stratford Foundation. We offer one-to-one tutoring to children and adults to help them increase academic skills and reach their full potential.

We have special expertise assisting students with:

  • Dyslexia
  • ADHD
  • Non-verbal learning disabilities
  • High functioning autism
  • Executive functioning difficulties

We help students who:

  • May learn at a different pace
  • Have learning style differences
  • Have missed instruction due to illness or change of school
  • Want to improve their study skills
  • Want to learn strategies for standardized test-taking

Tutoring is available in reading, writing, math, exam preparation, academic support, and study skills. Commonwealth Learning Center is accredited by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators.

We offer comprehensive academic evaluations in the areas of reading and math.

Our three learning centers are conveniently located in Needham, Danvers, and Sudbury.

Our Professional Training Institute offers teacher training courses in multisensory teaching methods. We offer workshops and courses in Orton-Gillingham (including practicum) the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing™ Program, Nancibell® Visualizing and Verbalizing® Program, Educational Evaluations, Study Skills, Reading and Spelling Games, and Math Games. These courses are scheduled throughout the year and are offered on-site for school systems throughout New England. Additionally, the Professional Training Institute sponsors special events for teachers and parents.

Our national teacher training program, the Multisensory Training Institute, offers professional development courses in multisensory methodologies including Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing™, Nancibell® Visualizing and Verbalizing® and Orton-Gillingham programs.
